At National Level
NYCI works in partnership with youth organisations and development education organisations to ensure a youth work perspective in development organisation policies and practice and a development and justice perspective in youth work. To achieve this, NYCI is an active partner in a number of initiatives.

NYCI is a member of Dóchas. Dóchas has a number of working groups including a Development Education Group (DEG) which NYCI is a member of. On 2 June, 2011 the Development Education Group hosted 'Added-Values: promoting long-term public engagement in development' at the Mansion House in Dublin. | Irish Coalition of the Global Campaign for Education |
NYCI is a member of the Irish coalition for the Global Campaign for Education. It was founded in 2000 and is part of the International Global Campaign for Education. The aim of GCE is "to mobilise public pressure on governments to fulfil their promises to provide free quality education for all" made at the Education For All Summit in Dakar. It is an awareness-raising, human rights-based campaign working to raise awareness of the Education for All agreements in the education sector and in broader Irish society. | Stop Climate Chaos |
NYCI is a member of the Stop Climate Chaos campaign, a coalition of Irish development, environmental and youth organisations. The campaign is calling on Government and political parties to ensure that Ireland does its fair share to prevent runaway climate change. NYCI is a member of the Irish Development Education Association (IDEA). IDEA is the association of organisations and individuals involved in the provision, promotion or advancement of development education throughout the island of Ireland.
For IDEA, development education is an educational response and process aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of the shared development of our world. By engaging people critically in and with our increasingly interdependent world, development education aims to challenge global inequalities, and works towards creating a more just and sustainable future for our planet.
