A seminar Making the Case for Development Education in Youth Work, is taking place as part of the NYCI National Youth Development Education Programme.

One World Week

 

One World Week draws to a close for 2011!

Youth organisations, schools and other groups organised events at a local level around Ireland during One World Week. A report will be available soon! If you have photos, press coverage or information on your event - please send to deved@nyci.ie. Through these events, young people are raising awareness about the OWW theme 'A Rich Man's World?' and the central action 'Consume with Care'.

Engaging with Youth and the World Seminar 29-30 April 2010

Almost 50 young people aged 18-30 participated in the NYCI seminar ‘Engaging with Youth and the World: From Policy to Practice. The seminar took place in the Emmaus Centre in Swords, Co. Dublin on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th April 2010.

Regional Development Education events

NYCI is committed to organising regional events to promote development education in youth work. In 2009 and 2010, NYCI organised events jointly between the Intercultural programme and the Development Education Programme which focused on the inclusion of migrant-led organisations in Ireland in global justice and initiatives such as One World Week. 

In 2010, the events 'Framing Our World - a cultural perspective on images and messages in Development' were hosted in Dublin, Galway and Waterford.

International Women's Day 8th March (Annual)

International Women's Day is celebrated annually on 8th March throughout the world to mark women's political, economic and social achievements and to mark women's struggle for equality and justice. Events are happening throughout Ireland to celebrate the day. For more information, visit the website http://www.internationalwomensday.com/search.asp?country=102. The UN theme for International Women's Day 2011 is 'Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathways to decent work for women'.

March 21st is the International Day for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and part of the European-wide Action Week against Racism.
